The prize patrol surprised MISD staff members with the money on a two-day fall grant giveaway.
The 38 grants that were awarded will fund various projects and activities that go beyond the normal classroom experience. Examples of the funded ideas include sensory stations, technology initiatives and career-readiness projects.
Earlier in the school year, the foundation funded $5,000 in mini-grants. Mini-grants are grants for $250 or less that make an immediate impact in classrooms. Another round of grants will be awarded in the spring.
The non-profit organization has raised more than $3.3 million in grants since its inception in the fall of 1998. For more information on how you can help make a difference in MISD classrooms, visit the Education Foundation’s website Opens a New Window.
